Cultur·Able works to create more accessible, inclusive, and participative cultural spaces by connecting artists, cultural professionals, students, and communities through education, visibility, and shared experiences. For us, “space” exists both in physical environments where people gather, and in the social and cultural spaces where people discover, learn, and feel a sense of belonging.

A central part of our work focuses on workshops, talks, and educational initiatives that introduce students and professionals to the work and perspectives of disabled creatives. Beyond raising awareness, these experiences aim to foster a deeper and more instinctive understanding of accessibility and inclusion, not as buzzwords or afterthoughts, but as values that shape how future cultural spaces, events, and collaborations are imagined and created.

Our collaborative exhibition projects, including the “Belonging” exhibition developed with partners, also reflect this approach. These spaces created opportunities for disabled artists to gain visibility while welcoming audiences who may have had little previous exposure to disability-led artistic practices. At the same time, many disabled visitors found recognition, connection, and community through these shared cultural experiences.

Cultur·Able also works to strengthen professional networks around accessibility in the cultural sector by celebrating existing inclusive spaces and fostering new connections between organisations, creatives, and initiatives. Through this work, we aim to reduce preconceptions, increase visibility for disabled artists and accessible venues, and encourage more open, welcoming, and collectively owned cultural environments.
