Governance
b.creative is an international non-profit association (AISBL) founded in Brussels in 2019. The network is governed by a General Assembly, a Board, and a coordination office, all working in service of a decentralised, member-led structure.
Our governance model reflects our values: openness, care, and co-creation. It is designed to support diverse participation, distributed action, and accountability. We see governance as a shared responsibility, a living system that adapts with and through our members.
Network Structure
Our architecture is best understood as scaffolding for emergence, a flexible system that enables members to initiate, connect, and contribute meaningfully without requiring permission or rigid oversight. We hold structure lightly, but with care.
- The General Assembly is the sovereign body of the network and meets annually to make key strategic decisions, approve financial matters, and elect the Board.
- The Board is composed of up to 13 members and includes representatives from across disciplines and regions. It oversees governance, supports the office and ensures strategic alignment.
- The Office holds the coordination function. It oversees network development, facilitates communication, provides continuity, and supports members and working groups in bringing initiatives to life
Since its inception, the office has been hosted by KEA European Affairs, an international policy design and research centre based in Brussels. KEA contributes its longstanding expertise in culture, creativity, and policy to b.creative’s development.
The Office
The b.creative office is the operational and strategic backbone of the network. While b.creative is member-led and decentralised in structure, it is the office that ensures that the network functions, evolves, and delivers on its ambitions.
This small, committed team is responsible for the day-to-day running of the network, the implementation of Board decisions, and the development and execution of b.creative’s strategy. It also leads on fundraising, partnership building, and project coordination.
