FOUNDER, RIPTIDE STUDIO

Landscape Architect D.P.L.G., Michael Patte has more than 20 years experience in the field of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning in Europe and China. His passion for design and urban identity led Michael to create in 2007, “RIPTIDE Collective” a non-profit organization that has continuously developed urban research and workshops while creating and organizing atypical events. In 2009, “RIPTIDE Collective” became “RIPTIDE Studio” in order to develop and propose real alternative design solutions to plan, design, activate and manage new or rehabilitated projects. Today, Riptide Studio offers a complete service set combining landscape and urban design and innovative strategies to promote the project.
Michael created a blog “and During this Time in China” to document his observations and inspirations – Awarded in 2009 “Most Popular Web Literature” his blog was published the same year in France.
​​In March 2014, Michael was awarded by the UNESCO – Shenzhen City of Design as “Best Creative”, an award for his dedication to culture and urban development.
Through his unique design approach, his communication tools and his in-depth knowledge of local culture, Michael is unanimously recognized as a “placemaker”.
